Cross-Sections
Cross-sections (sections) are one of the main measurement tools in AITracker system. They allow you to define virtual measurement lines across which object crossings are counted and analyzed.
What are cross-sections?
Cross-sections are one of the main categories by which the results in the spreadsheet can be grouped. Sections are defined by drawing a section curve (it does not have to be a straight line). There is no limit to the number of sections defined in a configuration.
Default behavior
When no cross-section is defined, each object will be assigned to the default cross-section A covering the entire frame anyway.
Cross-section properties
Trajectory curve
Each cross-section is defined by a user-drawn curve:
Can be positioned at any angle
Multiple cross-sections can be defined in one configuration
Attention! When you define 1 or more sections, the result sheet includes only objects that have exceeded at least one section. Other objects will have the status Validated : False.
This means:
Objects that don't cross any defined section are marked as not validated
Only objects crossing at least one section appear in the final results
This behavior helps filter out irrelevant detections outside measurement areas
Cross-section types
AITracker supports different cross-section types:
Multiple
Standard single cross-section with ID (e.g., A, B, C)
TwoDirectional
Bidirectional cross-section with ID+ and ID- for both directions
Connected
Cross-section linked to other sections for relation analysis
